What Is a Death Doula?

The philosophy Death Doulas embrace is that everyone is sacred. Our goal is to have that
sanctity accompany him or her in their death, just as it did in life.

~~~~~~
A Death Doula or death midwife, is a person who assists in the dying process, much like a birth midwife or Birth Doula does during the birthing process.
Death Doulas working together with Hospice and Palliative care teams, offer emotional support through grief counseling, spiritual guidance, education about the dying process, and preparation for what’s to come. They ease the symptom distress severe illness can bring — pain, fatigue, depression and more.
Their duties are broad and open-ended, allowing for modifications as things develop. Spiritual guidance may even include creating guided meditations and rituals specific to a person’s religious faith or spirituality.
A Death Doula can be considered a mentor for the final chapter of life and is typically brought in by the dying individual’s family.
Die With Dignity And Grace
Transcendent Journeys is not your traditional Death Doula practice. Assisting not only those folks in the death transition, our services include: escorting fetal souls back to their heavenly home during and after abortion and the soul retrieval of lost or wounded souls due to a variety of situations, including states of Coma.
There is no single path to conscious dying. Different from most Doula services, our focus is to teach clients to step out of confusion into light and freedom; in order to die peacefully with a pure, clear state of mind. Facing death can be the most painful experience of your lifetime. The end of your days can leave you feeling lost, engulfed by sorrow, and unprepared for the transition. These tribulations, be assured, are valid and unique to you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve our passing lives and no single pathway through dying. Just as a birth doula may have guided you, and your parents, through a healthy entrance into this life, so a death doula may guide you, and your loved ones, on a path to your contented dying. As an end-of-life guide, a doula needs to be a beacon of empathy, acceptance, and wisdom. Dr. Sharon embodies these virtues. Witnessing death throughout the world — from the Bronx to East Asia, to West Africa, and now to Sedona, Arizona — has allowed Dr. Sharon to understand the intricate weave of emotions and tumultuous grieving, that imminent death triggers. Great compassion has arisen and she now can listen without judgment, validating your unique emotional spectrum and allowing you to articulate your personal mechanisms for coping. Recognizing that dying is a deeply personal journey on a path that takes you beyond this physical realm, she uses an integrative approach, holding your hand as you draw strength from your religious faith or personal mythologies. There is no single way to conscious dying. If you find yourself overwhelmed by impending death and sightless as to a way forward, remember it is simply human to need soothing, to ask for guidance. Dr. Sharon, a death doula, is available to walk alongside you, to bring light and life to your passing, wherever you happen to be in the death transition process.
Psychopomp Assistance
Often following accidents resulting in death like auto accidents, or after incidents of massive destruction like bomb explosions, tornados, hurricanes, an individual doesn’t always realize that they have expired. The Psychopomp alerts them of their death and assists in their journey across the veil.
